Boat Tour Through Ria Formosa with Stops at Deserta and Farol Islands
Explore the natural beauty of Ria Formosa on this small-group boat tour departing from Faro. Over the course of 3 to 4 hours (depending on the season and schedule), this experience includes guided navigation through the protected lagoon system and visits to two of its most iconic islands - Deserta Island and Farol Island.
On Deserta Island, guests can enjoy unspoiled beaches, crystal-clear waters and peaceful dunes. It’s also home to the southernmost point of mainland Portugal - Cape of Santa Maria - a unique geographic landmark.
Farol Island, part of Culatra Island, is a traditional fishing village with sandy paths, colourful houses, and a relaxed coastal atmosphere. It’s a perfect spot to stroll, swim or enjoy a drink in one of the local cafés. In high season, the morning tour includes a longer stop here for optional lunch (not included).
Each stop offers free time to explore, relax, swim or take photos. With small boats carrying up to 11 passengers, the tour ensures a comfortable and personalised experience in one of Portugal’s most beautiful natural parks.

Bring swimwear and a towel - Deserta Island’s beach is perfect for a refreshing dip. A camera is also recommended for the scenic landscapes and lighthouse views.
